The source package builds and installs correctly.
To see this, grab python-
Notice that the only stuff showing up is under /usr/share/doc ?
Notice that there are no files under /usr/lib/

I attached a debdiff which should fix this issue: the package now uses python-support to properly install files (the debian maintainer has also switched to python-support with the last upstream version).
