Microphone input not working, totem player needs plugins

Bug Description

the mike input is not being sensed how to enable this? speaker is working and audio output is fine

totem player says it needs plugins, where to get it from?

You should have done a support request instead of a bug report as it's not really a bug.
For the microphone :
 -Double-click on the sound try icon
 -Go to the Capture (or maybe Input) tab
 -Select the microphone as the default Input
 -Set the volume to the maximum
You may also want to enable the Mic Boost, a lot of Microphone need that.

For the codecs, there is a nice page on the wiki : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats

Next time, please submit a support request instead of a bug report (except if that's a bug of course)

great and many thanks. the alsa mixer had microphone volume at zero and
input was not the mike

its now working
