Bug Description
Edgy on an LG S1 laptop. From Device Manager, sound driver is HDA Intel and product info is 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller.
External microphone (plugged to sound card) is not working after reboot.
In order to make it work I have to use the following workaround:
1. Unplug the microphone.
2. Open Volume Control Gnome panel applet, go to "Options" tab, and change the first out of three "Input Source" fields from "Mic" to "Internal Mic".
3. Plug the microphone back in.
4. change the value of the aforementioned field back from "Internal Mic" to "Mic".
This steps have to be taken every now and then, even during the same Gnome session.
Steps to reproduce:
Boot LG S1 laptop and try to use the microphone in Skype (don't use Gnome Sound Recorder as it messes alsa-mixer definitions, see bug #73371).
