The input text box with the default "type here..." string is not even editable on current Oneiric (keyboardcast 0.1.1-0ubuntu3).

Wow. One year later and still not fixed. I'm guessing keyboardcast not a very popular software package. Does anyone have even an educated guess about how it could be fixed? I'm a DBA but I'd take a stab at coding it if I even knew where to start.

Not sure the right way to mark this as duplicate, but this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/keyboardcast/+bug/1022330 is. This appears to be just as broken in Precise as in Oineric.

I have additional information. If you start up a bunch of X terminals and select them with keyboardcast, then it works just fine. So this appears to be a problem with GNOME terminal specifically.

Note that isn't a work-around, that's just a troubleshooting step. Xterms suck and I really don't want to use them for a variety of reasons. I want to use GNOME terminals. I imagine most people are like me in this regard.

Aha! A reasonable work-around. Install "mate-terminal" (from the Linux MATE desktop project) and run it. It's just GNOME terminal from GNOME2, and keyboardcast will control it just fine.

Found this bug because the package is the sole reverse-dependency in Ubuntu of libwnck22, which has been removed from Debian. I am removing keyboardcast as well.
