Bug Description

I kindly please you to add a small exception for Wallch 2.0.
Wallch 2.0 is a simple application that allows you changing your desktop background automatically with some extra features such as Live Earth Wallpaper.
On the other hand, I strongly believe that Wallch boosts the popularity of the Unity bar, something that Ubuntu "needs" now, provided that some users really don't like unity. And that's because Wallch takes advantage on Unity extensive capabilities (screenshot: http://bit.ly/nhvCb4)

Also, i'd like to point out that Wallch's 1st version was too close (advocated by one reviewer) to be included to Ubuntu 11.04, but unfortunately, it didn't.
So, I kindly ask you to make a small exception for Wallch about featurefreeze.

Wallch's latest source (and DEB package(x86)) can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/wall-changer/files/wallch_2.0.tar.gz/download and in REVU, where advocation is pending, here: http://revu.ubuntuwire.com/p/wallch

If you can find two developers to review your package, and an archive admin then agrees to process it in the NEW queue (the second advocate can check this for you), then I see no problem with this. Approved.

This new feature is going to impact user interface, and we're having freeze for it tomorrow. Will it be landing before then?

Hopefully but unlikely, all the copyright issues have been solved and the reviewer hasn't mentioned any other issues, so it's up to them...

I reviewed 'wallch' yesterday, it builds for oneiric, works and doesn't appear to have any negative ramifications. It won't be part of the default feature set (has to be manually installed from universe, but provides additional functionality for those that do). Based on the quality of the package now, having reviewed it, and the near miss from the last time around I am happy to sponsor+upload 'wallch':

And now it doesn't build because libnotifymm was removed from Oneiric

Mid-air collision—what timing.

So, this got uploaded, passed through 'NEW' by an archive admin who checked it over/built it. The package got built for everything, except i386; and then when resubmitted ten later blocked on everything with dependency wait because 'libnotifymm' had been removed in the meantime: bug #691990

kuh3h3: are you able to shed any further light on what the plan is?

alexsol: Needs a re-work upstream to avoid the libnotifymm dependency and use the (new) libnotify-0.7 API.

Could probably do with adding to the following aswell:

This bug was fixed in the package wallch - 2.1-0ubuntu2

---------------
wallch (2.1-0ubuntu2) oneiric; urgency=low

  * Fixes FTBFS because of erroneous libnotifymm-dev dependency. (LP: #835524)
  * Cherrypick 'fix-mainwindow-icon.patch' from upstream
  * Launchpad auto-close (LP: #677794) (LP: #824102)
