Bug Description

Hello,

Connection to VPN used to work till gnome-shell 3.1.91.1, yet since I upgraded to gnome-shell 3.1.92, connection to VPN does not work. When I check /var/log/syslog, I find this message:

Sep 30 10:50:53 ants NetworkManager[1225]: <error> [1317372653.332643] [nm-vpn-connection.c:882] get_secrets_cb(): Failed to request VPN secrets #2: (6) No agents were available for this request.

Also, whenever I try to edit the VPN settings (from Network Settings), I find the password fields empty.

The same problem persists in gnome-shell 3.2.0

We disabled nm-applet autostart in gnome-shell while trying to fix another bug, which unfortunately breaks your VPN. Try running nm-applet. For a more permanent workaround, remove the AutostartCondition line from /etc/xdg/autostart/nm-applet.desktop.

Is that the bug that had to do with attempt to disable wifi, didn't
actually disable it ? I I had that issue too, so I killed nm-applet.
But, if I remember correctly (unfortunately I am not very sure), VPN did
still work even when I killed nm-applet.

Anyways, I did run nm-applet now, and the VPN does work.

Running nm-applet fixed this issue for me - hoping this will get a more permanent fix in time for the 11.10 release.

Moving to network-manager-gnome since this isn't actually GNOME Shell's fault.
