Bug Description

What is expected to happen:
.exe files in File Manager has an icon based on their embedded icon and a generic "Wine program" icon

What happened instead:
The default icon for application/x-ms-dos-executable is shown instead

Based on the description in Ubuntu Software Center, I tried to launch it via Terminal, but it gives the error (as shown in the screenshot):
md5sum: : No such file or directory
/usr/bin/gnome-exe-thumbnailer.sh: line 134: printf: 0x: invalid hex number
wrestool: : No such file or directory
cp: missing destination file operand after `/tmp/tmp.Xq306YvS7d'
Try `cp --help' for more information.

gnome-exe-thumnailer.sh takes two arguments: INPUTFILE and OUTPUTFILE. Without them just throws an error.

But the thumbnailing in Oneiric obviously does not work because GNOME 3 changed the way which are thumbnailers registered to the system; instead of gconf it now uses .thumnailer (similar to .desktop) files in usr/share/thumbnailers. Just put the attached file there, and it should work.

Changed in gnome-exe-thumbnailer (Ubuntu):

This bug was fixed in the package gnome-exe-thumbnailer - 0.9-0ubuntu1

---------------
gnome-exe-thumbnailer (0.9-0ubuntu1) precise; urgency=low

  * New version (thanks Jan Nekvasil)
    - added support for GNOME 3 (LP: #752578, #879267)
    - read current icon theme from dconf first
    - added thumbnail templates for the Faience icon theme
    - cleaner templates for the Faenza icon themes
    - DISPLAY=NONE for getting rid of the occasional "Wine is updating" window
when extracting ProductVersion with MS Windows Script Host
    - delete old thumbnails created by g-e-t on it's first run after the icon
      theme change
  * debian/copyright: convert to dep5 format
