Bug Description

Some, albeit older or proprietary software, expects a gmake symlink for gnu make. Can this be provided?

Especially helpful for projects that wish to build for both GNU/Linux and BSD, where "make" is an unreliable command, whereas calling "gmake" guarantees the appropriate parser is executed.

Package make-dfsg - 4.3-4.1ubuntu2 is available in ppa:xypron/merge-from-debian

It isn't easy to extract the debdiff from your PPA currently as make-dfsg has a new version available and the current diff produced by your PPA only has debian/changelog changes. Could you please attach a new debdiff to this bug report and subscribe the Ubuntu Sponsors team after that is done? Thanks in advance.

Note that gmake is shipped in make-guile, not the normal make package, but currently broken, which this will address

Superseded by a no-change rebuild -4.1build1; it turns out the delta was not needed anymore.

This bug was fixed in the package make-dfsg - 4.3-4.1build1
