Hi, Leo,
Many thanks for responding to my problem. I am sorry re delay in replying to you - I have been away for a few days.
I believe my laptop uses Gnome 2.30.0 - sorry if this sounds vague, but I am not very clever about the finer details of computing. If this is wrong, perhaps you would tell me how I can determine which windows manager the computer uses.
Any window I minimise, including Firefox, disappears off screen. Bottom bar of Desktop stays empty.
I believe this started either when I upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 LTS in April or when I upgraded to the latest Firefox - version 3.6.3.
Cheers,
Piers

You mean other windows rather than Firefox, right?
Which ones?
What window manager are you using?

Bug description:
Binary package hint: firefox
Ubuntu 10.04
I expected Firefox to open and remain on screen. Instead, it disappears after apparently closing or minimising 6 or 8 times. This is followed by Firefox seemingly tring to open again, but failing to do so. When I again click on the Firefox icon, it opens and I can use the browser. But if I minimise it, Firefox disappears into it's lair.
I cannot minimise other windows - they also disappear.
Hope you can help.
Cheers.
