Ariella is a MySQL Branch with Ariella storage engine. Ariella storage engine implements global transaction and lock management, as well as transactional elastic provisioning and de-provisioning of MySQL server instances.

Note that Ariella storage engine does not rely on log replication; does not replace other existing storage engines, such as InnoDB or Maria; and it does not provide a new kind of persistent data store.

The intended use cases: (1) transactional elastic data fabric in a cloud; (2) transaction monitor for cloud computing.
