Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

Similar to the way Ubiquity offers to import user settings, it would be really neat if it could automatically suggest a hostname for the new install based on what your existing installs are called. My laptop had 2 installs before i installed feisty alongside, both called "Evangelion". I'd have been impressed if it could have guessed the name i wanted this time :)

I can confirm that this feature is not there. What action would you suggest if there are multiple hostnames on the computer already? Checkbox list?

I will evaluate this for Feisty+1.

GabrielGrant,
I think that would be far too complex. I would most likely grab only the hostname from the first partition. This being a non-critical feature, it shouldn't overly complicate the interface.

Sounds good, assuming the first partition has a GNU/Linux install :)
