Bug Description

Desktop screencasters such as Kazam and RecordMyDesktop don't seem to work under Gala. When attempted, only the desktop background, or the background of the login-manager, and the cursor appear in the videos. Replacing the compositor does not solve this issue, though once switched to another compositor like compiz, the problem is gone until returning to Gala. This leads me to believe this is a Gala issue, rather than a Kazam or RecordMyDesktop issue.

Works fine here, did you try eidete?

Just installed eidete from the daily ppa ( https://launchpad.net/~shnatsel/+archive/eidete-daily )

It is also affected by this bug, the same behaviour is found.

Proprietary FGLRX graphics driver.

I'm afraid this is FGLRX's fault. Open-source Radeon works fine here.
