Bug Description

Testing today's ISO image on an Lenovo X220i:

Image: http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/20120822/quantal-desktop-amd64.iso following ISO test case:
Testcases:
    http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/219/builds/21646/testcases/1300/results
    http://iso.qa.ubuntu.com/qatracker/milestones/219/builds/21646/testcases/1305/results

I got almost to the end of the installation but it never completed. The current message at the bottom of the installer screen is:

"Copying installation logs..."

after 40 minutes I gave up waiting.

"vmstat 1" shows no I/O activity
"top" shows no installation processes busy, system looks idle.

Can you please do `$ ubuntu-bug ubiquity ` while the installer is hanging?
This will collect /var/log/syslog & /var/log/installer/*

You can achieve this either by switching to a different TTY, or running the installer from the Live Session ("Try Ubuntu")
Without further information, there isn't much we can do to resolve this.

I hit this issue multiple times trying to install 11-Sep quantal-desktop-amd64.iso on a MacBookAir3,1. I tried to run "ubuntu-bug ubiquity" multiple times and attach to this bug but my logs never successfully attached to this bug.

Which logs from /var/log/installer would you need to see? After sitting for an hour at "Copying installation logs..." I just did a sudo reboot from the terminal and the system came back fine. I do appear to have a set of logs in /var/log/installer.

Encountered this problem today installing Kubuntu 19.10.

A previous attempt to install resulted in bug 1846918, though this was with the beta installer.

The first attempt with the final installer had no crash. Now I'm having this problem.

I'm not sure what has resulted in these differences.
