Bug Description

Ubuntu Quantal is shipped with Python3 support. I think that launchpadlib doesn't have actually support for Python 3, but give support should be easy and no very time consuming.

Currently a package "python-launchpadlib" is offered in Quantal. A new package "python3-launchpadlib" could be offered as transition package.

Changed in launchpadlib:
status: New → Triaged
importance: Undecided → Low

Considering that Python2 development is dead, this should probably be raised in Importance.

Lack of python3 support is affecting other parts of the distro, see for instance Bug 1153671, where apport can't make reports on certain systems now because we don't install python2 everywhere.

Note that to get this done, some of the underlying libraries still need porting. Namely lazr.restfulclient. See LP: #1000801

Heya,

I do not have an account there and cannot edit it. If someone does feel free to edit it. I've now ported portions of ubuntu-dev-tools as well, and I'm planning to do wider marketing about this porting effort.

Regards,

Dimitri.

Great news xnox! Is the ubuntu-dev-tools work being tracked somewhere? Might have time to take some of that on this weekend.

There's an existing ubuntu-dev-tools bug report in #1099537

I have all tests and the ubuntutools module ported, but i have not yet
converted / tested scripts themself.
There are many things that use ubuntutools python package, thus i
wanted to port it first. That bit is done.
I will push if to the trunk, i didn't at the time as i was on an offline laptop.
