Bug Description
Binary package hint: gedit
file > new
in the new document, type a few lines:
line1
line2
line3
(last line of the document is line3)
file > save
save the file as /tmp/testfile
file > close
file > open
open /tmp/testfile
the document now has four lines!
last line is empty.
(the actual file still contains 3 lines, even after saving)
I don't know weather this is intended behavior. It just confuses me as for some scripts or when editing data files is't important that the last line is not empty.
gedit version 2.16,1

In Feisty (gedit 2.18.1) the behaviour is correct. The file is saved and retrieved without any additional <CR>.
