George,

thanks for reporting this. To diagnose the problem it will help if you can supply some log files. Could you please attach the files from /var/log/syslog and /var/log/partman if you are running from the liveCD.

I tried installing again after this error, resulting in other errors. heres the syslog

what were the other errors? Are you referring to the things at the end of the syslog or did you get some other messages?

After I got that error, I tried installing it again and got an error, I didnt save the message though.

Could I have /var/log/installer/syslog too? You're using Ubuntu 6.06, so most of the interesting log messages are there.

Lots of kernel messages of errors reading inodes. This looks like a hard disk problem. You might want to do a disk integrity check. Please reopen this bug if that results in no errors. Thanks.
