Bug Description

I have a dual-boot system going here (Feisty and Windows XP SP2), but when I was installing Feisty, I was asked to transfer over my account settings from Windows XP if I wanted to. I chose to take my wallpaper and Firefox bookmarks. It retrieved the wallpaper, but not the Firefox bookmarks.

I'm assuming you cannot run through the installer again, correct?

Would you be willing to attach your bookmarks.html file from your Windows Firefox profile? Feel free to remove any sensitive data from it.

Never mind about running through the installer again, I'm not thinking straight, apparently. Can you attach /var/log/installer/debug (if present) and /var/log/installer/syslog to this bug report? Please note that they're not normally readable by regular users, so I would recommend copying it to your home directory (`sudo cp /var/log/installer/debug /var/log/installer/syslog ~`), running `sudo chmod 644 ~/syslog ~/debug`, attaching both files (again, if both are present), and then deleting the copies in your home directory.

Please also attach your Windows bookmarks.html, if you can.

Thanks!

This happened to me as well. I remember that, upon opening Firefox, the default bookmarks had been overwritten but my bookmarks were not in place, as if it had imported an empty bookmarks file. Unfortunately, I've since reinstalled Feisty and did not use the migration assistant.

I have had a similar problem with only some (75%) of my bookmarks being transferred. I have used the Firefox export/import method to resolve this.

I am marking this as a duplicate of bug 220064 as it seems to be exactly the same issue, while the other bug report is more complete. As usual please redirect comments to the master bug.
