Bug Description

Just a couple of ideas..

1) Would it be possible to create a "Requested Article" page on the community Ubuntu documentation? It would help to be able to have a central location to point out areas where documentation is weak or missing. Then we could have a sort of "to-do" list for documentation, and people who have a good understanding in some specific area could help out by tackling some of those articles. I was thinking of something along the lines of wikipedia's Requested Articles page (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested_articles).

2) Similarly, it would be neat if their were a page or system for suggesting new features for ubunutu, or some part of ubuntu itself. Of course it would be impossible to meet everyone's request, but at least this way we could get some kind of idea of what people want, and make it easy for people with particularly good ideas to get them out before they forget :)

For (2) there is <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/IdeaPool>, though few developers are subscribed to it.

For (1) it's a wiki, feel free to create it.

Oh sorry, I guess that that page is automatically generated. In this case then it's likely to be a moin bug/feature request. A quick scout through their wiki doesn't reveal any plans/capabilities for this...

I think (1) could also be addressed in the wiki team's workflow, by creating some way to request new articles. It's a good idea.

Shouldn't this be a spec?

How about just filing a blueprint against the ubuntu-docs package?

Hasn't Brainstorm effectively fulfilled this request for features? It is used to get feedback on ideas from the community, and can include documentation as well. Also, is there anything wrong with filing a bug against ubuntu-docs specifically for documentation, or a blueprint as Shane suggested?

After talking to Matthew on IRC, I'll close this bug. Brainstorm [1] exists to accept suggestions and requests from the Ubuntu community. Also, requests for new documentation (wiki or system) can be filed as a bug here under the ubuntu-docs package as part of the doc team's workflow.
