Bug Description

OS / Feisty fawn!
Video card: Nvidia GForce 7900 GT! Problems with HAL! If requested I can poste the kernel.log here!
I got this messager after a certain period of time e.g there is no warning after five hours! It only disappears after a very long time!
However, despite this I can start everything without any problems and it seems that there is no programme having any defects!

regards Stefan

Thank you for your bug report.

I suspect I might be able to add something and help clarify the problem. When I resume after hibernating overnight a small warning pops up saying that hibernation failed when in fact it worked successfully. This warning make a mention of HAL. Also in my ~/.xsession-errors there is the following:
** (gnome-session:13603): WARNING **: Couldn't connect to PowerManager Method invoked for Hibernate returned FALSE but did not set error
I am using an NVIDIA card with the nvidia-glx-legacy drivers with the NvAGP option set to 1.

Stefan:
Is this the issue you are seeing too or are you describing something else? If it's something else I suspect you will have to further describe the problem...

Hey, thanks for your reply! Yes you are right! It is more or less the same! Well, I haven´t found a hidden file which indicates WARNING (gnome-session etc. yet ), but after a hibernating overnight I got this information mentionig HAL! Sorry, but I am quite new to LINUX/Ubuntu!

I've attached a cropped screenshot of the popup that appears when resuming after having hibernated for a few hours. The popup says:
Hibernate Problem
HAL failed to hibernate . Check the help file for common problems.

It appears that the computer did hibernate and it is not clear which help should be checked if it didn't work...

I'm getting this when I resume from hibernate as well. I've just been ignoring it since, as the OP is mentioning, hibernate IS working without any problems. It's just weird that I get this error message every time I've had my laptop on hibernate for a while. I'm running on a Compaq Presario C571NR. Video card is an Intel i950. I'm using the 915resolution package with the i810 driver.
