cpu usage to 97% when using via driver for x.org

Bug Description

When using the via driver (both the one supplied with feisty and the unichrome driver), when X attempts to start-up the system slows to a crawl. It's still semi-responsive, as I can switch to a virtual console and input commands, the CPU is being used by a process named "events" - which is using 97% of the cpu.

Starting up X with the vesa driver lets it work fine, but then I lose the 3d acceleration I had in edgy. I've checked around and can't find anyone else with this issue. Is there any other information you need from me for troubleshooting?

Brian, the problem still exists, I have to pass "acpi=noirq" to the kernel
if I want to use the via driver. I don't know what causes it - but once
it's in grub I'm fine (until I install a new kernel and forget to update
menu.lst!).

Should have updated the bug with my workaround though, sorry.

You should be able to add this option permanently to your grub configuration by adding it to the section that starts with "## ## Start Default Options ##" with something like 'kopt=acpi=noirq". This will ensure that the option is added to every kernel. Could you please provide the full output of 'sudo dmidecode' to your bug report? Thanks in advance.
