Hi Viliam,

Can you provide some more information about this package, such as the video card you're using, and the Ubuntu release you were using when the crash occurred? Also, if you have upgraded your Ubuntu release, have you successfully run zapping yet?

Thanks!

Dear Mr. Craig,
I used and still use NVidia GeForce 2 MX/200 video card vith "nvidia" driver.
Operating system installed on my PC was and still is Kubuntu 7.10.
Since that failure a haven't tried to run zapping again. I have used
program mplayer with parameters to save the broadcasted
TV program.
I hope this information is enogh to help.
Best Regards

Hi Villiam,

If you get a chance, would you please try using zapping again, and provide
what the error messages or (if you can) a backtrace of what happened to
the application when it crashed? That would be very helpful.

Thanks!

Generally I don't recommend doing this (and if you don't want to, that's
fine) but would you try it again as root and see if there is a change in
results?

`sudo zapping`

Hi Viliam,

Thanks for posting more information. I'm not sure why you're getting a core-dump at this point, but I'll see if I can find someone who can look into this.

Thanks again!

Yes, I know about such problems on GNOME, but I'm using KDE 3.5.8

Hi Viliam,

Try to obtain a backtrace then http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash and attach the file to the bug report. This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

If you are successful, you should get the automated bug reporting tool, which will post more information about your core dump, and will automatically aloow you to ceate a new bug report. When you have created the new bug report, please either mark this bug as a duplicate of the new bug, or post the number here, and I'll mark it for you.

As an aside, I tried zapping with a webcam I have laying around, and it didn't crash right at start-up. When I tried to change the settings, though, it crashed. Have you tried it in Hardy yet?

Thanks!

Hi Viliam,

Did you get a chance to try this in Hardy, using the tips in http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash to generate a core dump / back trace? Please let me know if you have or need additional help. Thanks!

Dear craig,

Yes I have had the ability to try that program under Hardy Heron. It worked perfect, bud unfortunately I destroyed my system because I (of course without some knowledge about what I did) unpacked cpio archive into the root (/) directory. So now I have to run Windows using some drivers to access ext3 filesystems where all my data are stored.

So that's all.

Ouch! Sorry to hear that.

I'm going to mark this bug as fix released, then. If you have any additional errors with Zapping, please file a new report.

Hope you can get your system squared away soon.
