Thank you for your bug report. As you can see the backtrace you provided is full of (no debugging symbols found) so it's almost useless. Could you please install the debugging symbols for totem <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash> and then create a backtrace <https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace> ? This will greatly help us in tracking down your problem.

I am not IT savy and dont know much about debug and install.

Can you pl tell whether the bug is reproducible?

Ver easy steps... Just download the movie file, add some note and try to run it in totem. If it crashes, then no need for me to provide u with debug and such things.

I had a look at this and I can't reproduce the bug. It would be great if you could run the backtrace. It's really easy :

Prepare everything :

- use https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProgramCrash to add the reposetry for the debug packages.
- look in SYnaptic to see if you are using totem-xine or totem-gstreamer. If you are using totem-xine install totem-xine-dbgsym, if you are using totem-gstreamer install totem-gstreamer-dbgsym.
-add the notes to your video file
-make sure gdb is installed

Run the backtrace in a terminal :
Run gdb totem 2>&1 | tee gdb-totem.txt

Then in the prompt write (the prompt as (gdb) in front) :

handle SIG33 pass nostop noprint then press enter
set pagination 0 then press enter
run /path/to/your/file/MegastarFrance.wmv

Then totem should appear and crash.

After that enter in the prompt :

backtrace full then press enter
info registers then press enter
thread apply all backtrace then press enter
quit then press enter

The backtrace is now finished,it should be located in your home folder, then just attach it here. Thank you very much.

I dont plan to use any non LTS KUbuntus.
Hence it is not possible for me to download any other version just to check one bug.

I thought that LTS desktop has 1.5 years support and that current LTS support would end in dec 07.

Hence if possible, pl fix this issue on 606 LTS.

Thanks.

Well I tried with Dapper and can't reproduce it, it may be because you used automatix which is known to cause some crap.
