Bug Description

Binary package hint: falconseye

Falconseye seems always to run with such heavy CPU load that its music stutters and the machine can become unresponsive.
I observe this simply by running the game.

falconseye:
  Installed: 1.9.3-16ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1.9.3-16ubuntu1
  Version table:
 *** 1.9.3-16ubuntu1 0
        500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com feisty/universe Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

My hardware (just to put this in perspective) is an AMD Turion 64 running at 1.6 Ghz, with 1Gb of RAM, and a Geforce 6600 graphics card. It seems that something must be a little wrong for a game as simple as falconseye to be maxing it out.

Same problem here but I discovered that ALL games using sdl shoot my CPU to 100% (AthlonX2 3800+)

This is true. It appears that with CriticalMass I also see this. However, with Falconseye it is somewhat more disruptive to the audio and gameplay, many other games just seem to cope.

Is this symptom still reproducible in 8.10 beta?

While I am Downloading 8.10, I have been able to reproduce in 8.04 - Hardy. ON a 2Ghz dual core system, the game is always hogging 1 core.

The version in Hardy is 1.9.3-16ubuntu2.

falconseye does not seem to have an installation candidate in Jaunty. Perhaps it is no longer valid then.
