No sound following recent updates. Nothing on any output, alsamixer looks ok.

Andy traced this down to commit "ELD should not be valid after unplug". But also that a simple printk could make the problem disappear.

Some race condition?

This release of Ubuntu is no longer receiving maintenance updates. If this is still an issue on a maintained version of Ubuntu please let us know.
