Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org2

I previously reported a bug at the OpenOffice Bugtracker (link: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77004 ), but they told me, that this is ubuntuspecific, so ill post here:

On the default-toolbar is a dropdown list. where you can select the zoomlevel of the current workspace. If you click on it and selecte a value from the list, everything works as expected.
BUT: if you place the mouse over it and wheelup or wheeldown, the value changes (as expected) but the workspace does not update its zoomlevel.

A screenshot and a short movie is included in the bugreport on the openoffice site (link above).

My Sytem: Ubuntu Feisty, KDE 3.5.7, OpenOffice 2.2.0-1ubuntu3

TIA
Daniel

Do you still have this problem with openoffice.org 1:2.4.1-1ubuntu2 in Ubuntu 8.04?

Yes - absolutely.

I also noticed, that the same (wrong) behaviour applies for the Font-Size drop-down (and pbl. for other drop-downs) also.

The case of the zoom drop-down is probably an ooo-build issue since upstream doesn't even have a drop-down for it pops up a dialog for you to select from.

I can't tell about the other drop-down's since I can't get vmware to allow my touchpad to scroll.

Hi, one of our users reported this bug:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openoffice.org/+bug/118994

and filed it upstream: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=77004

but it appears this combobox is specific to the ooo-build for OpenOffice.org. Here is the summary of the report:

On the default-toolbar is a dropdown list. where you can select the zoomlevel of the current workspace. If you click on it and selecte a value from the list, everything works as expected. BUT: if you place the mouse over it and wheelup or wheeldown, the value changes (as expected) but the workspace does not update its zoomlevel.

I have confirmed that this bug exists in OOo 2.4.

This bug is still present in the latest 2.4 in ubuntu 8.10 and also in the 3.0-release directly installed from OO.org.

As it also affects other controls (font size/name,etc) I have placed a new Issue at the official OO.org tracker:
--> http://de.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=96707

How can this be added as a "Remote bug watch"?

TIA
Daniel

This is still present in go-oo 3.0.

The only reason it doesn't effect upstream is because upstream doesn't have a dropdown list for the zoom level, it just has a button (which when clicked presents the View->Zoom menu), thus avoiding the issue entirely.

The zoom thing has been changed completely, now there is the completely new widget in the status bar => closing this bug. Please reopen if you think it is still valid in the recent OOo versions.

[This is an automated message.]
There are no new official OpenOffice.org releases in Ubuntu packaging anymore => Won't Fix

If the problem persists, please mark this bug as "also affects project Libreoffice" or "also affects distribution Libreoffice (Ubuntu)" if that has not happened already.

Please leave references to upstream OpenOffice.org bugs in place to allow cross pollination.
