Bug Description

Binary package hint: grace

grace and grace6 support PDF. However, it appears that the Ubuntu packages have not compiled in this support.

Please compile in PDF support.

Confirmed to work with PDFLib Lite. I've installed it locally. Can someone please roll this out?

PDFlib Lite has a non-commercial license and therefore must go to multiverse (if other parts of the license is okay). If grace/grace6 links to PDFlib Lite, grace/grace6 must go to multiverse as well.

I don't see this happening.

In principle, one can link against a dummy PDFlib library having proper soname but empty stubs for entry calls. Such a library can be freely distributed, I guess (don't think the API itself is copyrighted). Then those wishing to use the PDF export (and agreeing to the non-commercial clause) may install real pdflib from multiverse or other repository.

Marked as invalid in Ubuntu, as explained at debbugs #568393

grace's PDF support is deliberately disabled because PDFLib Lite isn't
DFSG-free software (no commercial use). It can't be linked both because it
would kick grace out of main into non-free, and because PDFLib isn't packaged
for Debian, so it's not an option even then. See README.Debian for the two
workarounds.

Just for clarification, the bug wasn't fixed in debian6. Rather, it was closed, as debian6 has been removed from the main repos (in Debian and Ubuntu).
