I have noticed this in Gnome are you also using Gnome? Also this is about Gutsy correct?

Yes on both counts, I'm using Gnome and Gutsy Tribe-2.

This recently became fixed for me. Are you still having this issue Marc?

I've been updating from a tribe 3 install. It has not been fixed for me.

What is the value of the /apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/hibernate gconf key? Does it happen when using suspend?

Seems to be fixed on a fresh install, but not yet completely resolved on upgrades probably. Moving milestone.

Not the original reporter, but I can confirm that this still affects me on latest gutsy (upgraded from feisty, no fresh install).

As a temporary workaround, I found that I can manually lock the screen and still hibernate through the "Stand-by" key on my keyboard.

Can't tell anything about suspend, because it fails -- and used to fail in feisty too, so nothing new :-(

Can you reply to the question about the lock key?

It also happens when using suspend.

Some of my gconf keys (up-to-date tribe 4 fresh install):

/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/hibernate = true
/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/suspend = true
/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock_use_screensaver_settings = false (warning: this key has no schema)
/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/use_screensaver_settings = true

I've changed /apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/use_screensaver_settings to false and that fixed this bug for me.

I have the same settings as above. I will override use_screensaver_settings now.

I'd expect the use_screensaver_settings to default to false, since I'm usually around when my PC is on screensaver, but I'm not around when my PC is in hibernation, but that's just my personal opinion of course.

This is happening to me on a system upgraded to Gutsy for both suspend and hibernate.

/apps/gnome-power-manager off/lock_use_screensaver_settings = false
/apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_enabled = false

/apps/gnome-power-manager off/lock/* all true except for gnome_keyring_suspend

well, that was supposed to be fixed with the 2.20.0-0ubuntu2 upload (all gconf key locations changed, only that version takes it into account) can you please check if this version fixes it ?

It's still broken for me.

If I hibernate using the power manager applet in the notification tray (next to the task bar clock), I am prompted for my password when I resume. If I hibernate using the usual Quit / Log Out menu, the password prompt is bypassed when I resume.

Xfce desktop.
Upgraded from Feisty to Gutsy.
gnome-screensaver 2.20.0-0ubuntu4.2
gnome-power-manager 2.20.0-0ubuntu6
/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/hibernate: true
/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/suspend: true
/apps/gnome-power-manager/lock/use_screensaver_settings: false

Is there a newer package with the fix included, or does this bug need re-opening?

Re-opening in hopes that someone will notice this is not entirely fixed.
