Could not initialize the package information

Bug Description

The following information was copied from the error that occurred:

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:The package linux-headers-2.6.17-11 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.'

This error occurred after I upgraded to 7.04 from 6.06.

It's hard to know what caused that without more information. The output immediately before that should say which package is causing this. Please provide the entire output.

Thanks for your bugreport.

This usually means that something is wrong with your dpkg database, please run:
$ sudo dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq linux-headers-2.6.17-11

that should fix the problem. Can you please also attach the files in /var/log/dist-upgrade/* to this bugreport? This will make it easier for us to diagnose the problem.
