kernel-oops: when installing feisty alternate on older box

Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

On a somewhat older box the feisty installer fails on 85% of installing base file system.
I will attach the hardware-info.txt, partman.log and syslog to this post.
As a workaround i tried to install dapper-alternate. This gave a similar behavior, freezing at different points in the installing the base-file system. After 6 or 7 times the dapper-alternate install succeeded.

Issue 121038 might be related, though that is not an alternate-install issue.

The syslog includes a kernel bug dump. Reassigning to the kernel.

This machine contains 704 MB RAM.
2 strips of 256 MB
1 strip of 128 MB
1 strip of 64 MB
Ofcourse i ran memtest for a few hours but found no problems.
A few days ago i deleted al the strips and put 128 MB back, and everything workes and installs fine with no oopses.
I will put back the rest of the strips and run memtest again (maybe for a few days.....) i will keep you informed.

hi,
running memtest brought some obscure RAM to light. So i think this issue should be closed. Sorry for bothering you.....
