Bug Description

Binary package hint: debian-installer

Using the July 14th 2007 Kubuntu alternate i386 installer, I partitioned my 200GB disk using LVM, as following:

/dev/dm-0: 30GB, contains ext3 partition '/';
/dev/dm-1: 1.5GB, contains swap partition;
/dev/dm-2: 130GB, contains ext3 partition '/home';

Upon starting Kubuntu, and then logging into KDE, I obtained the following error message followed by an X server restart:

   "Could not start kstartupconfig. Check your installation."

I then logged in on vt1, and noticed that my home was set to '/'. I fixed this by going:

sudo mkdir /home/ryan
sudo usermod -d /home/ryan ryan

and then logging back into KDE.

Please attach /var/log/installer/syslog and /var/log/installer/partman, which should help me investigate this.

Is this an issue in more recent versions of Kubuntu?
