Bug Description

Cordova-ubuntu-2.8 is deprecated. Application developers are advised to use the newest cordova-3.x runtime which contains Ubuntu support since version 3.3.

Developers of HTML5 apps who have built their application at the beginning of the 13.10 cycle may have a cordova-ubuntu-2.8 dependency attached to their package or click app, as it was part of the standard runtime.

Re-building the application is generally the simplest way to remove the dependency, if the application itself was not using Cordova API call.

If an application used Cordova API calls with the 2.8 runtime, the recommendation is now to embed the cordova runtime directly in the click package.

Affecting click-reviewers-tools: the tool should mark the use of cordova-ubuntu-2.8 as an error at this stage.

gtep the Exec line for "cordova-ubuntu-2.8" to catch old runtimes, the new launcher is called cordova-ubuntu and embeds its own runtime in sub-directories

so while i just merged this into the meta package and uploaded the removal i was wondering ... our framework still supports 13.10 apps in utopic, how will apps that are already in the store and use cordova 2.8 still work, is 3.0 fully backwards compatible ?

I subscribed application developers who I know may have an app built with 13.10 and that got linked with the codova-ubuntu-2.8 runtime.

Rebuilding the click package for 14.04 should be sufficient to get rid of that dependency. The click-reviewers-tools will check for that and will confirm that the old runtime is not used anymore.
