distro bug reporting form fails to recognize package versions

Bug Description

If when reporting a bug you enter the package name including the version number, e.g. "sysklogd-1.4.1-20ubuntu4", Launchpad claims that the package doesn't exist.

Either the form should say "Please do NOT include version extension", or (even better) it should be smart enough to strip-off the version extension.

[This report previously also mentioned providing a separate version field on the bug-reporting form, which is bug 424.]

The package selector vocabulary handles binary package names but not binary package names with versions.
