The first paragraph..

"An example preconfiguration file that you can use as basis for your own preconfiguration file is available from http://www.debian.org/releases/edgy/example-preseed.txt"

This link does not work.

I think that document was one maintained by Colin Watson/the installer team, afaik the docs team don't have anything to do with it (and it doesn't seem to be on the website for feisty)

Perhaps this bug ought to be reassigned?

Thanks for your report. This is also bug 78711, already fixed in later versions (though note that bug 135502 existed in 7.04; this will be fixed in the 7.10 guide).
