Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

When going into fullscreen (for, say, a game) compiz freezes about 1 in 10 times when the resolution is different from the desktop resolution. When it freezes going into fullscreen, it is possible to hit Ctrl-Alt-F1, log in, and use killall -9 compiz.real to fix it. When it freezes coming out of fullscreen, the only way to fix it is to either reboot the computer or SSH in from another computer and then use killall -9 compiz.real.
Right now I'm getting this with Gutsy, but it also happened (more frequently, it seems) on Feisty with Beryl. This is using NVidia drivers.

To reproduce:
-Install Battle for Wesnoth, make sure it starts up in fullscreen mode.
-Start Wesnoth in fullscreen mode
-go into preferences, make sure it's at a resolution different from your desktop resolution
-switch fullscreen on/off until it happens (usually takes about 10 times)

This is a bug in the nvidia 9639 driver. It was fixed in the 9755 driver but that one is no longer available.

Assuming this is fixed in 96.43.05 which is in Hardy.
