Apps start but their splash screen is shown constantly in the right edge switcher

1. Make sure none of the apps are running
2. start a new app from the launcher

What happens:
The app starts but its splash screen stays in the right edge switcher constantly. So basically we are getting two entries of each app in the switcher. See attached screenshot.
