Bug Description

Binary package hint: lmms

Version 0.3.0 of LMMS is available for about 4 weeks which brings lots of improvements especially regarding stability. By packaging 0.3.0 most of the bug-reports for this package can be easily closed. LMMS 0.3.0 is in Debian unstable for about one week (see http://packages.qa.debian.org/l/lmms.html)
It really would be a pity if LMMS 0.3.0 was missing in Gutsy as users still had to fool around with the old, buggy and unstable 0.2.1

Modified source-package for Gutsy can be found here: http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~doto/lmms/ (the only difference to the official Debian-package is another dependency (wine-dev instead of libwine-dev))

Ack and approved. You'll need to find a MOTU to upload this. Also, please sign yourself up as a bug contact for lmms and work through which of the outstanding bugs are fixed via this upgrade.

Please add a separate debian/changelog entry for your changes then. You will need to merge in Ubuntu changes from 0.2.1-1.1ubuntu1 also.

I prepared everything as you've requested: http://www-user.tu-chemnitz.de/~doto/lmms/ubuntu/ Are you happy with that? What else do I have to do now? Will someone upload this now?

Looks ok, very well done!

Three things:
 - please adhere to http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebianMaintainerField next time (I did that)
 - please list the remaining changes we have compared to Debian - that's part of the merge policy.
 - 'unstable' -> 'gutsy' in your changelog entry.

Means, I have to put my name and mail-address to debian/changelog / Maintainer ? I know the Debian-maintainer of LMMS personally and I guess he'd have no problem with its name listed there as differences between Debian and the Ubuntu-package of LMMS are minimal and likely to be zero in 0.3.0-2

 - please list the remaining changes we have compared to Debian - that's part of the merge policy.

  * added alternative build-dependency wine-dev (which is libwine-dev in
    Debian)

 - 'unstable' -> 'gutsy' in your changelog entry.

Do I still need to do this (and the other things) or did you do all outstanding tasks?

ok I see, 0.3.0 is already in gutsy ;-) Lot of thanks for your coorporation! I'm sure users will be happy about that :)

Thanks a lot.

DebianMaintainerField means: change Maintainer: in debian/control to something with a ubuntu.com mail address and conserve the old value in XSBC-Original-Maintainer:

There were much more changes to the packaging than adding wine-dev. Please do a debdiff between the Debian version and your version.

But anyway, thanks again. I'm sure users will be quite happy about the new lmms. :-)
