Bug Description

I'm running a Gutsy T5 installed to HDD (which was updated in synaptic a couple of hours ago). For this computer (it's a laptop)I have an USB wired mouse (it's a Microsoft IntelliExplorer 3.0 mouse).

Every time I reboot my Ubuntu the mouse stops working (the touchpad on the actual laptop still works though. What I typically do is that I disconnect the USB mouse and then reconnect it again. This always fixed the problem right away.

I'd be happy to provide any information you need to debug this problem. Here's the kernel version from uname -a for starters:

mnemo@gutsyT5:~$ uname -a
Linux gutsyT5 2.6.22-11-generic #1 SMP Fri Sep 7 05:07:05 GMT 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

This problem keeps happening for me every now and then (almost every single reboot actually). I just noticed some strange though... while I cannot move the mouse cursor the mouse buttons are still working though. If I press the right-button I see the GNOME context menu etc... still I cannot move the cursor with the USB mouse (albeit it works to move the cursor with the touchpad).

Hi mnemo,

You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you in the 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon release with kernel 2.6.22-14? Please let us know. Thanks!

I've not had any problems with it lately so I believe that was the right thing to do. Thanks.
