Bug Description

Started to download a system update
My network went down but the phone was still connected to the AP
The network came back, up but the download remained at 10% and never advanced
Pause and resume, still not downloadig
Exit the update panel and re-enter, the download shows as running at 0% and never resumes.

I then got a dialog that the system update failed and was unable to click download again until exiting the panel. Then the download worked as expected.

Could also be due to ubuntu-download-manager

For a system update, system-settings just reports the download state from system-image, which i think is using ubuntu-download-manager. So this is most likely a bug in either system-image or ubuntu-download-manager.

I reproduced a very similar issue by pausing the download while on 3G, enabling a wifi connection, then trying to resume the download. It would not download until a reboot

Just got a "System update failed" which looke like a loss of network conection in the logs. Could not restart the download until I restarted System Settings.

I ran into something which looks like this. During an "update all" the download stalled at 0 bytes on a click app, and over the next half hour it didn't give up or retry. However, after turning flight mode on and off again, the UI went back to its earlier state with clickable update buttons, and the second try worked.

It should probably time out eventually when no data is moving, then should probably retry a few times, then should probably give up. Ideally about the same as wget does by default, though perhaps not so many retries.

I accidentally turned wifi off while updating, after turning it on again now it says Update failed, has a Retry button that has no apparent effect and it survived both through an app cycle and through a reboot.
a) what logs might you be interested in?
b) is there any workaround to get this working?

Here the logs asked by jgdx

For what it's worth, running system-image-cli somehow unblocked the gui, it now offers again to install the update (as it is already downloaded) :)

no longer affects: ubuntu-download-manager

In case it helps - I was using turbo on rc-proposed. Is it reproduceable? (I'll try with the next update available)

I tried yesterday that I saw a new update to start downloading, and turn off Wifi.

Then I enabled wifi again, and the file was there (no clue if it had been already downloaded or if finished there). It now won't install, even if it offers to install and asks if it's ok to reboot (i.e. I say yes, and then... nothing happens).

We did some debugging with jdgx, and I emailed him some information to see if we can track this.

This time nm-cli didn't help to go back to a working state, but a reboot did (yay).
