Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1428002/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package.

It's a bug in valgrind, in coregrind/m_initimg/initimg-linux.c: setup_client_stack()

Both AT_DCACHEBSIZE and AT_HWCAP2 are missing

Fix the DCACHEBSIZE issue

The attached patch for the current valgrind repository ( svn co svn://svn.valgrind.org/valgrind/trunk valgrind ) appears to fix the issue with the AT_DCACHEBSIZE not being handled. In testing this, I noticed there is also the value of AT_SYSINFO_EHDR that is not being printed. Anton mentioned that HWCAP2 is missing. I will work on addressing these issues. Not sure if the AT_DCACHEBSIZE is sufficient to get you past the current issue or not but wanted to post it for testing in the hope that it is sufficient for the moment.

The upstream Valgrind code has been updated with the needed fix.

The fix will be available in the next Valgrind release.

Up to the Distro if they want to add the attached patch to their next release or not.

The attached patch was committed to the Valgrind source tree, commit r15078 on 4/9/2015

The patch fixes the issue with the AT_DCACHESIZE issue as well as adds support for the HWCAP2 entry.

Chris J Arges (arges) wrote : Please test proposed package

Hello bugproxy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted valgrind into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/valgrind/1:3.10.1-1ubuntu3~14.04 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance!
