Bug Description

version 2.12.0-1ubuntu1

I think that text, image and video preview is an essential feature that is missing in gtk filechooser. It only displays the mime-type icon.
It should also display the real file preview, as nautilus does.
moreover gtkfilechooser only has list view: it needs a new icon view (the same as nautilus) to have a bigger image preview.

Appending a box with a preview of the current selected file is not a solution (the user needs to view all previews at the same time, to quickly find the file he needs)

Thank you for your bug. No need to open upstream wishlist on bugzilla, we don't have the ressources to do upstream work at the moment and we were going to work on that we would use bugzilla to communicate which upstream anyway

I thought that opening upstream bugs was the best thing, since
upstream developers should have more time than ubuntu developers, to
add features and fix bugs.

right, I was not clear, if you open a wishlust bug on bugzilla no need to open it also on launchpad since we will not likely work on it in a distribution specific way

Oh, sorry! I did it because I thought that the problem could get more
attention by someone who has time to fix it (as you can see, upstream
is dated 2004-04-26) and is browsing launchpad

right, we only have some people working on the desktop bugs at the moment and ten of thousands of bugs listed, I don't think we will work on this one any time soon, especially that the previews might not look nice in a small dialog like the filechooser one
