There's not really a lot of actionable information here. As this was on prerelease Gutsy and appears to be random I'm going to close the bug. If you're able to reproduce it please feel free to repopen. Try to be as specific as possible in reporting what happened before the crash. Thanks.

This happens on the release version of Gutsy too. Suggest reopening.

I'm afraid that I can't be any more specific than the original report. I generally can't use Screem for more than about 10-15 minutes before it closes. It's pretty frustrating when you're working on many files simultaneously and possibly haven't saved all your files. There is no one thing that I'm doing that causes it to crash. Possibly switching between files? Each time it happened I had at least 6 or so files open. I hope that helps a little.

I'll update this bug report if I notice anything new.

Ok, it just happened again. I was in Desk 3 looking at the Web page in Firefox. I switched to Desk 4 where I had Screem open and Screem closed when I clicked on the Desk 4 icon. I actually remember it happening at that moment at least a couple of the other times that I've experienced this bug. I do not know if it closed at that exact instant but Desk 4 DID show that there was a window open on it when I clicked that icon. Hope this helps a little!

This time while I was scrolling down using my mouse scroll wheel on one of the pages. Only had one page open this time.

Ok, couple more duplicates of previous crashes. This time it happened while I was typing. I think it was a ")" character at that precise moment.

hello -- I have the same problem --- Screem just shuts down for no apparent reason.
I notice you say it happens when you try to work on css or php files, and I've noticed the same thing.
Got a site folder open, various site pages open , but when I try to open and work on the corresponding css file, screem shuts down. And when I restart, it recognizes all the html files and restarts with them open, but drops the css file.
I had experienced this problem once before, and reinstalled screem which seemed to cure the problem, but now I'm starting to think it might have something to do with having more than one site on the go.
i.e. it doesn't seem to do this if I've only got one official site, but if I have more than one site, it seems do this.
i'd been running and working in screem for several weeks without this problem, but yesterday i needed a temporary site, started one, and now it's doing it again. Will try deleting my temporary site to see if this will cure the problem.
ps the temporary site was using the same css files.

Hello --- Re- deleting temp site. no effect, sorry.
It might be a conflict with one of the upgrades. Sorry, I'll keep your address for a while... if I find a solution, I'll forward the info.
(I realize it's a bit of a pain, but so-far, the only solution is to save all your files to an external memory, and install a fresh copy of Ubuntu. - Which is what leads me to think it's one of the upgrades causing the conflict. There is a way to create a system recovery on your hard-disk, so when an upgrade causes a conflict you can revert to pre-upgrade. When I find the back-up solution, I'll forward it.)

Same problem here - ubuntu 8.04 and now also in 8.10. I believe it to be at least two different bugs, mustly it seems to be related to scrooling with the mouse - will come back when I have a better feeling of the error...

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. However, screem has been removed from Lucid for the following reasons:

RoQA; inactive maintainer, dead upstream, buggy, depends on deprecated libraries
(taken from https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/screem/0.16.1-4.2ubuntu1/+publishinghistory

Therefore I'm closing this bug. Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find in Ubuntu.
