This is a bug in the shim-signed package. Versions of shim-signed in 14.04 and later rely on the --target feature of grub-install, which is only available in grub 2.00 and above. So shim-signed should have a versioned dependency on grub2-common.
Your attached logs also show that you have tried to run 'apt-get upgrade' to upgrade between precise and trusty. Please note that this is absolutely unsupported. 'apt-get upgrade' will not install new packages, which is a requirement when upgrading between major releases. You must at minimum run 'apt-get dist-upgrade'. It is recommended that you run 'do-release- upgrade' for commandline upgrades between releases, or use 'update-manager' for desktop upgrades.
