Bug Description
Hello, I use a MEIZU MX4 Ubuntu Edition for two weeks and it worked fine. Now I received about my company a Vodafone-DuoBill SIM card. That means a SIM with 2 Numbers, so you can switch between the business and the private number. However, in contrast to an usual SIM the MX4 can't identify these SIM. The upper menu strip shows an error message with the card symbol. Behind it there's a touch field (it seems like one) 'SIM card entsperren / unlock SIM', but the field is not selectable. A query to enter the PIN also does'nt come. A telephone inquiry with Vodafone proved only that this functionality is not supported at Ubuntu until they are listed at Vodafones smartphone portfolio. Vodafone's support calls Ubuntu Phones 'niche products' and not worth to develop such functionalitys for.
By the way, the Telekom has a similar functionality, called TwinBill. There's a good chance to detect the same fault.
Yesterday I installed update 3 of Ubuntu. Then the SIM card was recognised without problems, after the start I was requested to enter the SIM-Pin.
The comfort function of easy switching between the modes ‘Business’ and ‘Private’ is not usable yet. Vodafone’s DuoBill-manager is not available at the Ubuntustore. With Andoid it is automatically installed logging in with the SIM. Also switching about the phone dialling 222 does not work, although an appropriate announcement occurs. So for switching you have to shut down and restart the device.
At least, the topical mode is indicated under the network settings, so that you can check the modes ‘Business’ and ‘Private’.
Result: A considerable progress because the SIM card is usable now. Comfort functions are not available or usable yet.
