Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdepim

When using kmail (via Kontact if that matters) on my IMAP folders it does seem that the box "Status" which allows me to only see "new" or "anwered" mails is being reset to the default value "Any(??)" whenever I switch to a different folder and back again. IMHO it should keep the setting that I chose until I choose another.

OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.7-mm6

I would like kmail to remember the last setting of the status filter in the new search bar. At this moment the setting is forgotten the moment I go to an other folder.
For me this option would solve a long standing wishlist item in that in mailinglist folders I only want to see the threads with new or unread messages.

If this is implemented, please make it a config option - several users (including me) won't like to have this as default setting.

Gerhard, you might want to use saved searches as workaround.

Don't worry..this bug was filled years before the introduction of the virtual
folders and as it seems I'm the only one who would like to be able to have a
default filter which is sticky.. To worsen the problem other applications
(aggregator f.e.) have the same problem pointing to kmail as "standard
behaviour". Anyhow, since I seem to be the only one who likes to see only the
threads with new mails (new mails + context) per default I don't think you
have to worry.

Virtual folders are a pain in the butt for this. It means that I would need a
second folder for every folder I already have, if I remember correctly they
didn't update themself automatically and didn't show threads. Just hits..
Anyhow, the status filter is perfect and does the job adequately.. If only it
would be sticky to the last used setting freeing me from the "select
folder" -> "change status" -> "read mail" drag..

Well, at least the akregator people did solve this issue.

It does make me wonder once again why I'm the only one who is irritated by having to set the filter manually for every mailinglist every time again..

Enhancement of the wish:
1) there should be an option in the settings to control the default state of the option of the search pane
2) in the search pane there should be nice widget (after the edit-box?), if you turn it on, the search is remembered when the folder is changed

Sticky-search, I like the name, Gerhard.

I think this is the same as in plain kdepim in kde 3.5.7 (at least that what upstream developers confirmed).

Ok.
Now what? The bug is still marked as "Incomplete". Should I add some information or is there anything else you'd like me to do?
I agree that this is a very minor issue and could probably be marked as "Wishlist" or similar.

Cheers

There was once a proposal making the quicksearch line flashing when moving back - so every one notices that its still active. Wonder why this is not implemented yet.

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this feature request! Unfortunately, at this time Kubuntu does not have the developer manpower needed to implement and maintain many features at the Kubuntu level. But don't worry! This issue is being tracked by the KDE developers at: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=90029
Once implemented in KDE, it will be included in Kubuntu once the KDE version the feature is implemented in reaches Kubuntu.

Thanks!

Is there any chance for this to be fixed? There's at least half a dozen independent bug reports about this, most of them with several folks backing up the request.

The only alternative is to use saved searches. However, what I would like to do is to only see "action item" emails in every single folder by default. And clearly, creating a saved search folder for every real folder for that purpose is rather awkward approach.
