Bug Description

On Dell 2950 server: Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 works fine on 7.04 and previous, but not on 7.10 Beta.

This one is seen often: mii-tool output: SIOCGMIIPHY on 'eth6' failed: Resource temoprarily unavailable

When I get a link I'm able to ping machines on the local subnet, but not further away.

same problem goes with 7.10 RC. this seems to be reproducable with all newer Dell servers with integrated broadcom bcm5708 networkcards, which is pretty much every Dell server

Hi Daniel,

Sorry for the extremely delayed response. Just curious if this is still an issue? If so, care to test a Hardy Alpha release which contains an updated version of the kernel. You can download and try the new Hardy Heron Alpha release from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/hardy/ . You should be able to then test the new kernel via the LiveCD. If you can, please verify if this bug still exists or not and report back your results. General information regarding the release can also be found here: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks.
