Bug Description

Binary package hint: mplayer

Ubuntu Gutsy
xinerama screen setup (1400x1050 LCD + 1280x800 CRT)
Intel GM945 video card

Problem:
I use the vo output driver. When I start playing the movie it shows up with an incorrect aspect ratio (I guess it is the one of the screen ie 4:3 on the LCD and 16:10 on the CRT). Also, when I go to full screen the whole screen is filled with the movie. In the messages the correct aspect ratio is recognized.

When I compiled the mplayer from the latest source (1.0rc2), there is no problem.

I have to use "monitoraspect=1920/1200", otherwise the people appear wider. I guess mplayer somehow assumes that the 1920x1200 monitor has a 4:3 aspect ratio.

I forgot to mention I use MPlayer 2:1.0~rc1-0ubuntu13 and Ubuntu 7.10.

I'm not sure, that it is the same problem. In my case the Ubuntu package was simply filling up the whole screen regardless of the AR of the movie or the monitor.

Hm, so in your case, *all* the videos are played with the same aspect ratio, which is the aspect ratio of the monitor? and when you go to full screen it fills the entire screen. (In that case, my problem is different.)

Well, almost. In case of wide screen movies it left a little bit of black stripe, but the movie was stretched out vertically. If the movie aspect was 1.1 then it was stretched horizontally and filled the screen. I don't understand why, because the same settings work when I compile my own. So it may be just some compilation bug. Or feature.
