Gutsy Usability of the NetworkSettings dialog

Bug Description

The Network Settings dialog in Ubuntu 7.10 has only a properties button. Clicking on a network interface and the properties button the user can set properties but there is no possibility to activate the interface short of either restarting the box or running /etc/inet.d/network restart. None of these options is clear or easy to do for the common user. The corresponding interface in Ubuntu 6.10 is much clearer in this respect. I respectfully suggest a change to that interface at least for the ńext LTS release. See also my comments about the commenting out of all lines in /etc/apt/sources.list

I've not noticed the problem in Ubuntu 8.04.
