Bug Description

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

BACKGROUND INFORMATION
May be related to bug #144775.
May be related to degree of complexity of formatting in document.
Edubuntu 7.10
OO 2.3.0 core 1.2.3.0-1ubuntu5
Writer
Table in section with two columns, spans page boundary.
Table has several merged cells, including several each of 8x1, 1x3, 2x3, and interlocking 1x2 with 2x1.
Text throughout has both English characters, left to right logical, and Hebrew characters, right to left logical.
DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM GENESIS
Relatively frequent saves.
Two cells in one row merged: left empty, right with text. Unlike other merged cells in same document, resulting merged cell has two end of paragraph markers. When the first paragraph marker is deleted, OO crashes, attempts recovery, and crashes, entering infinite loop.
Using backup version, user reproduced information in additional rows, then attempted to delete rows involving problem cell(s), resulting in same infinite loop.
corrupted file is available for examination.

Hi, Chris.

Sorry to bother you. It may be no more than my misapprehension of correct operation (perhaps especially the relation of program settings to file settings), but my preference would be that vertically merged cells, which serve as left-column category headings and sub-headings remain together (not break across page boundaries). I have found that I can merge cells vertically if I allow cells to break across boundaries.
introOTHebrew.odt_0.odt, which crashes each time I open it, and started doing so when I merged cells vertically which happened to span page boundaries.

Thanks,
Greg

Greg,

Good news, the document opens without problem on openoffice.org 1:2.4.0~rc2-1ubuntu3 which is in Ubuntu hardy so once Ubuntu 8.04 is released your problem will be fixed.

Thanks,

Chris Cheney
