vmware-server upgrade problem

Bug Description

apt always thinks vmware-server needs upgrading.
The post-install configuration script fails because the default values are not valid for our machine configuration.
I would suggest that the post-install script check if there is an existing configuration and rather leave it intact or prompt the user for input all the way.

This seems to be the same as bug 160682 that is more fully reported and commented on...(?)

All I can add is that the same problem exists with 1.0.4-1feisty2 and it
relates to the post build configuration script that fails with default
values if you do no have eth0.
I would suggest the script should detect that vmware-server has been
configured and not execute or direct the user to running vmware-config-XXX
manually
