removing input method crashes the desktop

Bug Description

I added Japanese kana input method from language/region in settings , then I pressed the minus buttom to remove current input method, suddenly my desktop log out and I can't log into budgie-remix anymore.
Do someone know what's the problem?

I encounter a crash at Ubuntu Budgie 17.04 (Daily Build 20170222).

upstream comment here is known to work - suggest this as a workaround until a solution is found:

"As a workaround for the OP, try

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.input-sources current 0

at a shell prompt, i.e, Ctrl-Alt-F2. This resets the keyboard layout to the default."

note to self - the fix is as per the picture - keyboard.vala line 286.

Will need to-do a pull request for upstream. We can patch this ourselves
